Refund Policy - The Basics

At Key Theorem, we want you to love your custom mechanical keyboard or part. If something isn't quite right, we’re here to help.
This policy outlines your rights and our approach to returns and refunds in compliance with Australian Consumer Law.

1. Australian Consumer Guarantees
Under the Australian Consumer Law, you are entitled to a replacement, repair or refund if your item is faulty, not fit for purpose, or doesn't match the description. These rights apply to all products sold by Key Theorem.
We do not offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind, so please choose carefully when purchasing.

2. Returns for Faulty or Damaged Items
If your item arrives faulty, damaged, or incorrect, we’ll make it right. Please contact us within 7 days of delivery with the following:

  • Your order number

  • A description of the issue

  • Clear photos or videos of the fault or damage

Once confirmed, we will offer one of the following, at our discretion:

  • A replacement part or product

  • A repair (if applicable)

  • A full or partial refund

  • Return shipping covered or reimbursed

3. Custom Keyboard Builds
Due to the bespoke nature of custom-built keyboards, returns and refunds are only available for faults or defects. Once your order is assembled and shipped, we cannot cancel or refund unless the item is faulty or misrepresented.

4. Parts and Accessories
All switches, keycaps, PCBs, and accessories are final sale unless they arrive defective or significantly not as described. Please review product details before purchasing.

5. Warranty
We provide a 30-day limited warranty on all completed custom keyboard builds for defects in workmanship. This does not cover:

  • Wear and tear

  • Damage from misuse or mishandling

  • Modifications or repairs not performed by Key Theorem

6. How to Start a Return
Email us at [support@keytheorem.com.au] with your order number and issue. We’ll get back to you within 1–2 business days with the next steps.

7. Return Shipping
If your return is approved due to a fault or defect, we will cover the return shipping costs or offer a pre-paid label. For all other cases, return shipping is at the buyer’s expense.

8. Refunds
Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we’ll notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If approved, the refund will be processed to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out — we’re here to help make sure your experience with Key Theorem is as smooth as your keystrokes.

What to Include in the Refund Policy

Generally speaking, a Refund Policy often addresses these types of issues: the timeframe for asking for a refund; will the refund be full or partial; under which conditions will the customer receive a refund; and much, much more.
